Storm Players at the Next Level

Storm Players at the Next Level

The Southwest Kansas Storm have had a tremendous amount of success helping elevate players to leagues like the NFL, UFL, and CFL. This section is designed to highlight the players that have gotten an opportunity in one of these three leagues since signing with the Storm.

Jalen Morton

Quarterback

Southwest Kansas Storm 2025

Jalen Morton 2025 AF1 Season

Jalen Morton signed with the Storm for the 2025 season playing in all 12 regular season games, and the 1 playoff game. Late in the season while weighing offers in the CFL, Morton would sign with the Birmingham Stallions to help them through some depth concerns at quarterback. After spending a week with the Birmingham Stallions during a Storm bye week in 2025, Morton returned to finish out the season with Southwest Kansas. He would finish the season in the top five in many categories including passing yards, passing touchdowns, rushing yards, and rushing touchdowns. He would go on to be named the Rookie of the Year following a strong showing in his first season playing arena football. After the season Jalen Morton signed with the Houston Roughnecks for the 2026 UFL Season. He is determined to make it back to the NFL, and felt the UFL gives him the best chance to do so.

Robert Cooper

Defensive Tackle

Southwest Kansas Storm 2025

Robert Cooper 2025

Robert Cooper is another first time arena football player who quickly made an impression and found his way back outdoors after just a single season with the Storm. Cooper manned the middle of the defense playing nose tackle, doing his best to push the pocket and force quarterbacks into errant throws. The Storm defense started off hot in 2025, and a big reason for that success was Cooper harassing centers each week. Cooper signed with the Houston Roughnecks joining the same team Jalen Morton signed with.

Jyaire Stevens

Defensive Line/Linebacker

Jyaire Stevens 2025

Jyaire Stevens is a physical specimen standing 6'4 and weighing in at 240 pounds. He would put up impressive numbers at a 2025 Free Agent Showcase drawing the interest of multiple professional organizations after falling through the cracks of the 2024 NFL Draft Class. The Buffalo and Lafatyette Alum signed with the Storm for the 2025 season to guarantee himself a place to play football in 2025, but continued to pursue outdoor opportunities, ultimately being invited to attend camp with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the CFL.

Raekwon Ramsey

Defensive Line

Southwest Kansas Storm 2025

Raekwon Ramsey 2025

Signed by the Southwest Kansas Storm as a rookie coming out of Missouri Baptist University, Ramsey initially did not have much interest at the NFL level. However shortly after signing with the Storm Ramsey continued to attend All-Star games and garnered some interest from the NFL, and CFL. Ramsey has since been added to the CFL Negotiation List, and his CFL negotiation rights currently belong to the Toronto Argonauts, a team with a history of signing players with ties to indoor football.

2024 Season

Desmond Bland

OL/DL

Southwest Kansas Storm 2024

Desmond Bland 2024

Desmond Bland was set to be the starting center for the Southwest Kansas Storm for the 2024 season, that was until he earned his first chance to make an impression on an NFL team. Signing with the New Orleans Saints for their 2024 rookie mini-camp just hours before kick off of week one for the Storm.

Kevon Latulas

Running Back/Wide Receiver/Kick Returner

Kevon Latulas signed with the Storm for the 2024 AFL Season, after competing in training camp with the team, he was signed by the St. Louis Battlehawks of the United Football League. Latulas was just re-signed for what will be his third season in St. Louis since leaving the Storm.

Jeremy Cox

Fullback/Linebacker

Southwest Kansas Storm 2024

Jeremy Cox 2024

After just a handful of games during the 2024 regular season Jeremy Cox was called up to the UFL by the Arlington Renegades. Jeremy Cox previously had served as the starting fullback while also seeing time at linebacker due to the ironman rules that the AFL utilized. Cox would go on to finish out the 2024 season with the Renegades.

Vincent DiLeo

Linebacker/Fullback

Southwest Kansas Storm 2024Vincent DiLeo 2024

Vince DiLeo is one of many players who had been signed for the 2024 XFL season before the merger that created the UFL happened. This resulted in 8 teams going away and left many talented players like DiLeo looking for another opportunity. That's when DiLeo signed with the Storm and reinvented himself proving he could be evaluated at multiple positions, and not just as a linebacker. Having played well in his first professional experience at fullback, Arlington brought him as a player who could play offense situationally, but see most of his time on defense and special teams. He was one of three players signed by the Renegades during or after the 2024 AFL Season.

Marquise Lawson-Greenwood

Defensive Lineman

Southwest Kansas Storm 2024

Marquise Lawson-Greenwood 2024

Marquise Lawson-Greenwood signed with the Storm as an unheralded rookie out of small-school Lincoln University. While he had a fairly productive career in college, his numbers did not garner him the recognition at the highest levels he deserved. That all changed after 1 season with the Storm. He would finish the 2024 season with 10 sacks in 9 regular season games, leading the AFL in sacks and earning contract offers from the Arlington Renegades, and Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

Matt Struck

Quarterback

Southwest Kansas Storm 2024-2025

Matt Struck 2024-2025

Matt Struck originally signed with the Storm for the 2024 season after a solid but not spectacular collegiate career. Initially serving as the QB2 to Dodge City Community College Alum Caden Walters, Struck eventually took control of the starting position and helped lead the Storm to the playoffs. Their third playoff berth in three seasons. After a strong finish to his rookie season with the Storm he began to see some interest from teams overseas. He eventually accepted an invite to attend training camp with the Obic Seagulls of the Japanese X-League to compete for a roster spot in a league that can only carry 4 Americans on the final roster.

Ultimately he would return to the U.S. late in the 2025 season re-signing with the Storm this time as Jalen Morton's back-up to close out another playoff season. Struck would sign with the Assinda Cardinals after the 2025 season finishing out the 2025 season in the German Football League.
