Storm Sign Former DC3 Standout-Eugene Minter Jr

by Logan Hernandez

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE-The Southwest Kansas Storm and Dodge City Dental Care, our exclusive player signee sponsor, are excited to introduce you to our newest signee Eugene Minter Jr.  Eugene is an accomplished athlete, and a big, physical wide receiver.  He comes from the extremely deep and talented wide receiver tree that Coach Thomas cultivated during his time as a college head football coach.  Eugene grew up and attended high school in Birmingham, Alabama where he was a 3-star rated football recruit by 247Sports and ESPN.  He had a productive career at DC3 where he earned All-Jayhawk Conference recognition in 2018, and was the 9th ranked WR recruit in the country by 247Sports, and #10 by ESPN.   He accepted a scholarship to play football at Arkansas State University, but eventually transferred to Austin Peay University where he was a 1st Team All Ohio Valley Conference selection in 2021.  After receiving his bachelor’s degree, he chose to become a graduate transfer and finished his career at University of North Carolina at Charlotte where he made the move to TE and ultimately earned his master’s degree.   Coach Thomas had this to say about Eugene, “As a fan, do yourself a favor and take 20 seconds out of your day and watch Eugene’s short highlight film that we released.  What you will see is a big, strong, athletic, and violent football player with an impressive catch radius and powerful hands.  What you won’t realize from watching the film is that Eugene is one of the nicest and most humble human beings that you will ever come across.  Because of his size, he has deceptive speed and will get behind you in a hurry, but as it pertains to Arena Football, I believe he will play the Jack LB position at a really high level as well.  I tried to slow play signing a big WR for that position, but as I evaluated guys Eugene kept coming to the front of the group as far as natural athletic ability and talent.  When I travelled all the way to Birmingham to recruit him out of high school, I was excited to sign him then…I’m even more ecstatic now to be able to bring him back to Dodge.”  Fans, please help the Storm and Dodge City Dental Care welcome Eugene Minter Jr. back to Southwest Kansas!
